Marble Stories I
Marimar together with Italian-Brazilian designers Giorgio Bonaguro, Gustavo Martini and Ronald Sasson have decided to develop a common exhibition project in which their styles interact to tell different stories around a single precious material: marble.
The purpose of the project is to interpret the stone through its conventional and alternative use, creating a collection of forniture object, result of a careful research and the influence Italy and Brazil play on the work of the three designers.
Athos
This family of side tables is a tribute to the work of Athos Bulcao, Brazilian painter and sculptor. Through his “azulejos” (tiles) he has given color and made even more unique many architectural projects.
The tables are a “three-dimensional” interpretation of the azulejos and they are made using white Carrara marble for the base, and the Azul Macaubas granite, a Brazilian stone, for the top, to create, through the union of materials, an ideal link between the two countries.
Giorgio Bonaguro
Bonaguro graduated at Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan, in the double Master of Industrial and Interior Design. After working in many design studios, he now collaborates with several companies and develops limited editions presented at international fairs such as Design Miami/Basel, London Design Festival and Operae.
He works between Italy and Brazil in the field of product design, interior design, exhibition and lighting, trying to combine a linear style with research and contamination between materials.
Rise
The project explores an archetype of architecture, the staircase, transporting it into a place of estrangement, building a small geometric universe that manipulates the visitors’ perception and their relationship with the surrounding space.
The idea is a collection of marble furniture that exists in this environment of constant movement, where these objects rest on the shape of the steps. As the furniture is placed on a flat surface, they are integrated with black Marquina marble elements that fill the bases and bring us back to the dynamics of this place.
Gustavo Martini
Gustavo Martini was born in Rio de Janeiro, city by which he is deeply influenced. His creations explore indeed the contrasts of this chaotic metropolis and its mixed realities.
Martini has transferred his studio to Milan after completing a Master graduation at Istituto Marangoni. He explores concepts, forms and volumes to create a stripped experimental language recognizable in his products and art installations.
Maas & Gocce
This project is based on the German Expressionist architecture of the 1920s, in particular on the work of the architect Erich Mendelsohn. Sasson has based his project on the “elegant fractionation” applied by the architect, both Cartesian and organic at the same time. The armchair is called “Maas” in honor of the cellist Luise Maas, the architect’s wife.
“Gocce instead is a tribute to the Brazilian poet Alice Ruiz and her poem “Rain on the lake, Every drop, A new lake”. This thought evokes the renewal of the day by day and hope.
Ronald Sasson
Born in Curitiba, Ronald Sasson moves in Paris at the age of eighteen, where gets in touch with conceptual and neo-experimental art galleries. Through further international experiences has immersed himself in the world of design in a self-taught way.
All his works are signed by a peculiar trait representing the merge between his authorial artistic base with the industrial and replication possibilities.
